Yes, Stellar Blade is worth playing in 2026 if you like fast character action built around parries, dodges and demanding boss fights. It is a complete single-player game with no live-service model, it is now on PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, and its Complete Edition bundles nearly all of its extra content.

It is less convincing if you want a sprawling open world or a deep, character-driven story. Below we explain what Stellar Blade is, which version to buy and who should skip it. Prices and platform details were checked in November 2026.

What is Stellar Blade?

Stellar Blade is a post-apocalyptic action-adventure from South Korean studio SHIFT UP, the team behind the mobile hit Goddess of Victory: NIKKE. You play EVE, a soldier sent from an orbital colony to reclaim a ruined Earth from monstrous invaders called the Naytiba. Along the way she meets allies such as Adam and Lily and reaches Xion, one of the last human cities.

The game launched on PS5 in April 2024, arrived on PC in June 2025, and is coming to Switch 2 as the Stellar Blade Complete Edition. Its structure mixes linear, cinematic stages with a few larger zones to explore, plus side quests, collectibles and upgrades.

How Stellar Blade plays

Combat is the main reason to play. EVE fights with a blade, and the system rewards timing: perfect parries and dodges build energy for powerful skills, while skill trees and gear let you shape your build. Bosses hit hard and punish button-mashing, so expect a learning curve similar to lighter soulslikes, but with a faster, more stylish feel.

If you enjoy that kind of challenge, it also pairs well with the picks in our list of the best soulslike games.

Stellar Blade versions and prices: PS5, PC and Switch 2

Official US prices as checked in November 2026:

  • PS5: Standard Edition $69.99 and Complete Edition $89.99 on the PlayStation Store. The PS5 version is PS5 Pro Enhanced. PlayStation Plus Premium members can try a 2-hour full-game trial.
  • PC (Steam): $59.99 for the base game and $79.99 for the Complete Edition, with a free demo available.
  • Nintendo Switch 2: Stellar Blade Complete Edition at a suggested price of $59.99 for both physical and digital, launching November 5, 2026 at 7:00 a.m. PT. The physical cartridge contains the full game, with no game-key card or extra download required.

On Switch 2, the Complete Edition includes all previously released content, such as the NieR:Automata and NIKKE collaboration DLC, along with extra outfits, Drone packs, SP EXP and Gold. SHIFT UP is also adding four Bayonetta-inspired outfits for EVE as a free update on Switch 2, PS5 and PC in the same launch window.

Which version should you buy?

If you own a capable gaming PC, Steam is the cheapest way in and the demo lets you test performance first. The official minimum specs call for a GTX 1060 6GB or RX 580 8GB, 16 GB of RAM and 75 GB of storage for 1080p at 60 fps on Low. PS5 owners get the console version the game was originally built for, plus Pro enhancements. The Switch 2 Complete Edition is the one to pick if you want to play portably and value having everything on the cartridge.

Do you need the Complete Edition?

Not necessarily. If you mainly want to play the campaign, the standard edition on PS5 or PC is enough to start, and add-ons can be bought later. On the PlayStation Store, for example, the NieR:Automata and NIKKE collaboration packs cost $9.99 each and the Twin Expansion Pack costs $17.99. The Complete Edition makes the most sense if you already know you want those extras or find it on sale. On Switch 2 there is no choice to make: the Complete Edition is the only version.

Who should play Stellar Blade, and who should skip it

Play it if you enjoy action games such as NieR:Automata, Devil May Cry or Sekiro, you like learning enemy patterns, and you want a complete adventure you can finish in a few dozen hours without a battle pass.

Skip it if you are looking for a vast open world, a story-first RPG with many dialogue choices, or co-op and multiplayer. Stellar Blade is single-player only.

Common mistakes when starting Stellar Blade

  • Ignoring parries: blocking alone drains you fast. Practice parry timing early, because later bosses expect it.
  • Skipping the skill tree: new skills change how fights play, so spend points regularly instead of hoarding them.
  • Rushing the main story: side quests and exploration reward upgrades that make boss fights noticeably easier.
