Phantom Blade Zero has sold more than 4 million copies in 72 hours, developer S-GAME announced on the game's official X account. The kung fu action RPG launched on October 29 on PS5 and PC, and the milestone makes it one of the biggest debuts of the year for a new single-player action game.

The sales news lands alongside a huge player count on PC: according to SteamDB data cited by GamingBolt, the game peaked at 833,921 concurrent players on Steam over its first weekend.

Phantom Blade Zero sales: what S-GAME confirmed

In its official post, the Phantom Blade Zero team said the game sold over 4 million copies in just 72 hours and thanked players for their support. S-GAME did not break the number down by platform, so there is no official split between PS5 and PC yet.

Demand was visible well before launch. GamingBolt reports that the game passed 3 million wishlists across PS5 and PC in September and that it was close to 1 million copies sold before release day, counting pre-orders.

An 833K Steam peak and how it compares

The Steam peak puts Phantom Blade Zero among the 15 most-played games ever on Valve's store by concurrent users, per GamingBolt, and GosuGamers notes it is the highest peak for a single-player game on Steam this year. That is remarkable for a new IP that skipped Xbox and launched at full price.

The obvious comparison is Black Myth: Wukong, another Chinese-developed action game, which sold more than 10 million copies in its first three days in 2024. Phantom Blade Zero is well below that pace, but it is a strong start for a new IP that still has no Xbox or physical version to add to the total.

The timing also helped. Phantom Blade Zero launched three weeks before GTA 6, which arrives on November 19, giving S-GAME a clear window at the end of October when few other big single-player releases were competing for attention.

Price, editions and platforms

Phantom Blade Zero is available on PS5 and on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. There are two digital editions:

  • Standard Edition ($59.99): the base game plus two early unlocks, the Treasure Basin accessory and the Legacy outfit.
  • Deluxe Edition ($69.99): adds the Wulin Legend and Blood-Steel Form outfits, a digital art book and the digital soundtrack.

Physical editions for PS5 are planned for 2027. There is still no announced Xbox version.

From Rainblood to Phantom Blade Zero

The success caps a long climb for S-GAME. The series started in 2010 as the mobile game Rainblood, was rebranded as Phantom Blade in 2014 and reached a wider audience with Phantom Blade: Executioners in 2023. Phantom Blade Zero was revealed at the PlayStation Showcase in May 2023, and founder Qiwei "Soulframe" Liang has said the franchise has more than 20 million players in total.

What it means for players and what comes next

Strong sales usually mean longer support. S-GAME has not announced a post-launch roadmap, DLC or new platforms so far, so treat any talk of expansions as speculation until the studio says otherwise. What is confirmed is the 2027 physical release on PS5.

Critics have been largely positive. GamingBolt praised the combat and presentation, noting that it starts slowly but improves after the opening hours. If you are still deciding, the high Steam population also means plenty of community guides and build discussions right now.
